Localization of Filaments in 3D Printers Unveiled during the SRB Research Week

The 3D printing technology also known as Additive Manufacturing technology is growing and expanding every day and now, a wide range of materials such as polymers to ceramics and metals are used in this task, the SRB Public Relations Office reports. .

With the introduction of Rapid Prototyping technology in the country, a massive revolution in additive industry has happened. In Iran special type of this method, known asFused Deposition Modeling (FDM) is the most popular technology due to its low cost, ease of use, non-toxicity of consumables and relatively high speed, but the raw material should be imported with high price so they can just be used for modeling.

In order to localize this concept, since 2017, a number of product-driven research projects as well as knowledge-based business designs have been on top priority at the SRB School of Mechanic. Manufacturing FDM Filaments was a part of these researches carried out by by Dr. Shahram Etemadi, Head of  the School  and Mr. Mohammad Reza Mohammadi, an at th Research Week   exhibitions of research achievements for public.
